Every profession articulates ethical considerations for its members. It's part of every massage therapist's training to clearly understand and abide by a Code of Ethics with their clients. The State of West Virginia also has rules and regulations pertaining to massage therapy, and my license to practice is based on my understanding and adherence to these guidelines.
Here are my personal statements on the subject of ethics:
Treat all of my clients with the same fairness and courtesy.
Set an example of professionalism by my conduct.
Give you quality massage service, backed by knowledge and skills.
Know and abide by the principles, laws, rules, and regulations of West Virginia.
Be fair and honest in the advertising of my services.
Communicate to you in a professional manner on the telephone, in personal conversations, and in letters.
Continue to learn about new developments in my profession.
Acknowledge the confidential nature of the professional relationship with you and respect your right to privacy.
Acknowledge the inherent worth and individuality of each person by not discriminating or behaving in any prejudicial manner with clients.
Accept responsibility to do no harm to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of myself, my clients, and my associates.
